Caring For Your Child’s Teeth

Bring your children to the dentist from the youngest age possible, even if it is just to watch yourself have a regular check-up. Familiarise them to the surroundings as this will have a positive effect in the future when they decide to sit in the chair for their check ups!
Every time your child attends Anchor Road Dental Practice and comes into our surgery to see the dentist they will always be rewarded with a sticker.

Your little toddlers first teeth usually appear at about 6 months old and we advise you begin supervised brushing at this time. Use only a pea-sized smear of toothpaste containing 1000ppm of fluoride. After the age of three fluoride can be increased upto 1500ppm, but continue to use only a pea-sized smear under supervision as children have a tendancy to swallow toothpaste. Supervision can be minimised after 7 years old once your child understands not to swallow the toothpaste and you are confident that they are brushing correctly.

Sugar causes tooth decay. Minimising its content in the diet will help keep their teeth healthy.
